Apple on the Horizon

I have been a slave to M$ since my first exposure to a computer. When I first became interested in computing, it was mostly for gaming purposes, and the availabiity of games for PCs was just far greater than for an Apple. So I went with the PC, and all these years later, I find myself still relying on Microsoft products for far too many of my computing applications.

About 5 months ago, I finally reached wits end with the popups and spyware I got from surfing using IE. I switched to Firefox, and shortly thereafter tarnsitioned my email functionality from Outlook to Thunderbird. Not only do I find each product more user friendly, but I also dig the fact that most people are not using them. I have found these steps to be liberating, and may even be ready to take the plunge.

I read yesterday that Apple introduced their Mac mini and iPod Shuffle at the Macworld Expo. Priced to reach the masses, I am definitely not wiling to sacrifice on computing power to save a few bucks. I have never been one to scrimp on my technology buys, and I am not going to let my introduction to Apple computers be on a low(er) end system. However, the Power Mac and PowerBook grow ever more tempting…
