JR Hockey Brawl
April 7th, 2006
My wife is out of town, so I was fortunate enough to be able to take my son to hockey practice yesterday. One of the kids on the ice was pestering him nonstop. Wherever JR would go, this kid would be right behind him, pushing and bumping. After enduring it for awhile, he got pissed.
I used this opportunity to start a YouTube account, and get involved there. Check out my directorial debut
I had to switch it over to a Google video, because the YouTube feed made the whole blog look whacky in IE. Damn browser compatability issues… If you are a fan of YouTube, and would like to see it there, see here.
Fell free to Digg it here.

April 13th, 2006 at 9:26 pm
Hahaha. This movie is hillarious. I just thought I’d let you know it fucking made my day while I was at work today. I especially love the part when the kid is crawling away and looking back. Hahaha. Great video.

You got an awesome kid there, hope he sticks with it, teaching a kid how to skate is tough but if he can get it down right now, and I mean like this year.. then that’ll help him a ton in the future I can tell you a million things I wish I could have changed back in the day.. and thats the main one. Teach him to skate fast and skate hard and teach him to stay tough, it’ll go a long way in his hockey “career”.

Nice, Islanders can use a few “fighters” can I sign him ?

Fantastic!! I haven’t laughed that hard in a while. I gotta’ tell you the music REALLY makes it incredibly hilarious. I have been e-mailing it around, I must say.
Kids are hysterical, aren’t they?
April 24th, 2006 at 4:27 pm
kids are great for video. their energy and innocence make for great clips.
April 26th, 2006 at 1:04 pm
is that the real Mike Milbury?? if so, i work in the building directly across from your home ice - EAB Plaza. stop by, and i’ll give you the original video to use at the coliseum

I cannot believe you condone such violence in kids let alone your own. Never-the-less you’ve got a brawler on your hands…teach him to land some body blows at least.
April 26th, 2006 at 8:20 pm
Cindy Sheehan?? wow. first a pro hockey coach offers to draft him, now an anti-war activist slams me for promoting child violence. oh, the woes of a blogger
what the music covers is my audio wondering aloud where the coach is to break this up. i am not looking to raise a bruiser.
i definitely do not condone violence in kids. i abhor violence of any kind whatsoever. i teach my children to be gentle, compassionate, and respect all forms of life. we don’t even kill bugs in my house.
it takes time to instill, and we are talking about four year olds here. covered in pads. nobody was hurt, and i have spoken with my son about the incident.
enjoy it for its’ innocence.
June 20th, 2006 at 2:07 pm
That is so cute lol i love how he looks back when he is crawling away. Bit of an unprovoked attack on the orange jersey kid that looks like he is tryin to break it up. But its all innocent
and is funny as hell
I was wondering if i could have a copy of the vid so i can put it on my cellphone and show my pals.
cheers for the laughs

Thats awesome! The best part is when he skates past the orange kid and punches him in the throat when hes on his knees. Reminds me of myself in the NHL.

One of the best hockey fights I’ve seen
November 21st, 2006 at 2:25 pm
Really. Not. cool.
As a parent, I find it shameful that you think children fighting is laughable. Notice no adult goes to intervene and tell them to work it out some other way. I am glad you are entertained by this now, because when this kid grows up into a disfunctional teen who hasn’t learned to control is anger, you wont be laughing. Good luck with that.
November 22nd, 2006 at 12:23 pm
This is hilarious, this is not a serious fight by any means. I am sure that if there was a serious threat for injury then an adult would have stepped in but seeing as its just a couple kids pushing a little bit it isn’t such a big deal. (I’m looking at you Bill and Cindy, you’re on notice.) The kids had a greater risk of injury from just skating around and falling down, take it easy.

Are you kidding!? You’re such a think-headed moron XD Look, the kid was bothering him the whole game, so he made him stop by pushing him!
You’re such a stupid libral pig to think he’d grow up to be a dysfunctional teen….I hate judgmental morons like you

Ths is pretty funny. To those who say it’s bad to let kids fight and you should teach them to work it out, try to recall when you were four and got into fights, and cried, and boo-hooed. Kids do these things. Lighten up and realize that single instances like this do not spell doom for a lifetime. I played hockey all through elementary school and high school and fights happen. It is not a terrible lesson to teach a child that there is the occasional bully who cannot be reasoned with and you may need to throw a punch or shove. Restrain yourself, and don’t initiate anything, but boys will be boys and this is typical boy behavior, like it or not. Learn to live with it and be able to function in the real world, not some liberal ideal utopia.
December 11th, 2006 at 10:41 am
Very funny! I think who ever is saying that it’s pee wee is wrong, pee wee are much older kids. They look like mini-mite. The people who are saying that it is violent need to chill, it just pushing and shoving and boys being boys. Keep up with the hockey, it’s a great sport for kids.
December 18th, 2006 at 3:18 pm
That’s the greatest sports fight in history!
December 20th, 2006 at 4:28 am
Poor taste to show and laugh at kids being aggressive.
December 22nd, 2006 at 1:44 pm
LOL. I can’t stop laughing. I will call it the innocent fight
December 24th, 2006 at 1:59 pm
to all of you saying bad things about JR’s video- FUCK YOU ALL!!!
January 11th, 2007 at 10:19 am
Make him play more hockey and make more videos!
ur kid is the one that knocks the others down aye ?
January 11th, 2007 at 10:28 am
Henrik - yes, my boy is the one knowcking down the others, and then crawling away. We are definitely keeping him in hockey. We moved to a new state in July, so we are looking for a program for him now. Until then, he’ll just have to make do with lots of snowboarding.
January 21st, 2007 at 8:51 pm
Good for JR!
You detractors, lighten up - I’m sure if any one of the boys were in any jeopardy of actually getting hurt, Greg or someone would have intervened.
I took my 9yo to our first pro hockey game last night. Yes there were fights. Good lessons:
Don’t pick on or bully other players/kids, there may be a price.
Fight within the rules, or there may be sanctions. (ejected, etc)
Fight fair and just. Hey, there are rules of war between countries - the US does not target civilians, use chem/bio warfare etc. Human conflict is and always has been part of life. You can be “French” about it or stick up for what is just and right in an honourable way.
Damn, did I over analyse this or what?
April 2nd, 2007 at 11:00 pm
JR is the “bomb” I never laughed so hard …….omg……..I also have the snowboard video, Me & my friends want to know when the next video is coming out heheh
hugs from Pam in Palm Springs, CA
“Fans of JR”
April 7th, 2007 at 5:18 pm
Now why is this funny?
Degenerates at an early age. Go Dad!!!
April 10th, 2007 at 6:13 pm
Tell JR to keep his chin down and widen his stance. And next time grab the other kid’s jersey and pull it over his head.
Sincerely,
Georges Laraque

This is awesome……to those who object…lighten up!
To those who object the objectors…they’re not necessarily liberals…more likely psychiatrists

Greg, top stuff. Good on your son for sorting it out by himself.
You just have to laugh at the comments from some of these people, what we don’t see is how tolerant JR is before he has enough.
Poor kid in the orange jersey, diplomat in the making!
April 22nd, 2008 at 6:19 pm
lol, awesome!
