The Loaner

October 26th, 2005

About a week ago, during a late night work session, I dropped what I believe was a little piece of rice onto my space bar. Instead of screwing around with it, I tried blowing it out. Instead of flying out, the damn thing flew right under. as I have become accustomed to a Dell laptop, I tried to just pop off the space bar, expecting it would come right off, and easily slip back into place. Instead, my tinkering only made matters worse.

I had to subsequently drop by my local Apple retailer, to see if they would have any luck with it. After one of the “genius bar” reps had a look, he told me they would have to replace the keyboard. Unfortunately, after trying to replace the keyboard, the system didn’t recognize it, and my beloved laptop had to be shipped back to the manufacturer. To lessen my pain, they sent me home with a cute little iBook G4. Not a bad starter model, but pales in comparison to what I have become accustomed to. Using my new .mac account, i was able to retrieve all the important information I needed, and aside from the slower response and diminished viewing area, the iBook gets a thumbs up (as does the Apple customer service team)

Counting down the days till the big dog comes home…
