The Shoot First State

October 4th, 2005

With the current enactment of the “Shoot First” law in the state of Florida, Governor Jeb Bush solidifies his spot as the village idiot of the Bush Crime Family. A further step towards the right, but good old Jeb refuses to let those pesky Brady Campaigners ruin his plans.

Groups of volunteers have arrived at Miami International Airport handing out fliers to arriving tourists, warning them of the new law. Bush accuses the dissenters of participating in political games. Ha!

    Greg,
Unfortunately, it took a death by gun in my family to get me involved in what is going on with our gun laws. My great state of Texas just passed the shoot first law. I have been so ignorant over the years relying on our house of representatives to really represent the people and not just huge organizations such as the NRA. Everyday I learn something new. Since 2005 are you aware of any legal drawbacks to the shoot first law?
I loved reading your website and the opinions expressed.

    Hi Diane:

I am very sorry to hear of the violence that your family fell victim to. It’s hard for most of us to remember that those statistics the talking heads speak of are actual people.

A quick look around brought back some material I think you’d be interested in - ShootFirstLaw.org and an article by the Orlando Sentinel.

    Stay involved.
